I checked the link. Here you can insert pattern only from customized tab. Not in substitution of an existing one

The link covered HOW to load a custom hatch. It did NOT include any information on how to substitute one hatch pattern for another.

What hatch pattern are you trying to replace? And what hatch pattern are you trying to replace it with?

Personally, if you are thinking of substituting a hatch pattern you downloaded from another website for one that comes standard with AutoCAD I would not do it. It could cause a problem in the future.

Additionally the acad.pat file can be edited and your custom hatch patterns can be appended to the end of the file. All it takes is opening the .pat file using Notepad and a copy/paste.
