Converting STEP file to multiple prt files

Hello,

I'm currently working on research and was able to get the cad file for a part that I was working with. My supervisor assigned me with separating the step file for the part in to all its individual assembly parts. I've been researching a way to do this but can't find anything that could help. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using Autocad?
Have you managed to import the Step file into it?
