Solid hatching and bylaters

Is there anyway to solid hatch while leaving bylayers within the hatched area visible?

I'm not sure what you are asking.

If you mean that you want to solid hatch an area but leave certain lines within that area still visible (in a different colour?) then creating multiple hatches between the lines would be easiest.
