I would do a REPAIR of the installation which is not the same as an uninstall/reinstall.
I read somewhere that you can run VBAMAN to run the file then use VBARUN to view the available macros. Have you tried that?

What method did you use to try and run this .dvb file? What older version of AutoCAD was this written for? Could it possibly be a case of a discontinued command or system variable within the code...
Additionally the acad.pat file can be edited and your custom hatch patterns can be appended to the end of the file. All it takes is opening the .pat file using Notepad and a copy/paste.

Did you try setting your visual style to Hidden?
It could be. If I had a copy of the drawing I could test print it off my system. I would need but a couple of 3D objects and not the entire drawing.
That was the simple setting.
Maybe the problem is an outdated printer driver.
What is automatic labeling? Are you using an add-on to AutoCAD or perhaps a custom lisp routine?
Try changing the Shade Plot from "As Displayed" to "Legacy Hidden".

If you have your original 2008 .mnu file use the MENULOAD command to load it. It will be converted to the .CUI format and loaded as a partial menu.
