draw line at an specific angle relative to another line

Lets say I have a line drawn from the top right to the bottom left on my drawing. I want to draw another line from the center of this line (or from somewhere on the line) at a 45 degree angle - relative to the existing line.
How do I do this - what are the commands?

You can do it 2 steps-
-draw over the top of the other line, snapping from midpoint to endpoint,
-rotate the line, using its endpoint as the basepoint

CarlB - Thanks! That is a great way to do it - gues I wasn't looking for somethins so easy.
I thought I could type "rel" and select the line which I wanted the angled line coming off of.
    Thanks again,

    You can also:
    select your start point
then type in <(what ever degree in Polar world)

it acts like an angular ortho
    example:
    select start point
    <135 ..... enter
    pull your cursor that direction
give it a length or just pull to where you want...... enter

Also look in the Autocad help at the xline command

    Or
you change the settings of your polar tracking, relative to the last drawn segment:

    Or, my favourite way:
You rotate your ucs -> work with tinsmith's tip:
Advantage is, that you do not need to calculate an angle...

Yup it works extremely easy....I use XLINE....(xl)...angle & relative to object also.....All very simple.

I mostly use the "<" method unless it's relative to a different line......then I use XL.
