    Welcome.

    Write it where? And how?

In MText? As a dimension? On the command line?

    DIMSTYLE > Primary Units tab.

    Set Unit Format to Fractional.

Where it reads Suffix below that put in the inches < " > sign.

    Click OK. Test.

Did you achieve your desired output? Yes or No?

Draw an actual compass? How elaborate do you want to make it? Do you just want to show the major compass directions (north, south, east and west) or also show the interim directions of northeast, southeast, southwest and northwest? Or do you also want to add major 30 degree segments? You can go from simple to complex depending on what you level of detail you would like to show. Just "google" the word compass and look at some of the thousands of images that are available on the Internet. Pick one you like and start drawing.

I usually just use a block that is a large arrow with the letter N alongside it, simple and does the job.
Im intelligent enough to know that I dont know everything; but I'll tell you all about it anyway.
